| Bio: | I am Elmo, a male diabetic cat. I am using this journal to keep track of my diabetes and daily life. ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) susanjacobson is my foster mom. I was found as a stray somewhere near Camden, New Jersey. Someone took me to the Camden County Animal Shelter sometime in March, 2006. I was a tomcat with giant jowls when I arrived, so the shelter people "fixed" me, and then sent me to the Moorestown Petsmart to be adopted. A nice family adopted me, but brought me back because I attacked their dog. The volunteers at PetSmart soon learned that I attack *all* dogs, big or small, and they kept those smelly things away from me! While I was living at Petsmart I was diagnosed with diabetes. The Petsmart people were not too happy to have a diabetic cat on hand, so decembercat9, a member of the West Jersey Volunteers for Animals, was nice enough to rescue me and take me home to her one-bedroom apartment that she shares with her finacee and their three cats. It was crowded! decembercat9 got me started on insulin and a diabetic diet, and my blood sugar levels started to come down after 3 weeks. I was happy there, and I even had a girlfriend named Tangie. susanjacobson adopted me at the end of May, after her kitty scrunch_the_cat passed away. I now have a whole apartment to myself, and my new foster mom is working hard to get my diabetes under control. My vet is Dr. Andeer at The Cat Doctor. |
