Cat Dancer [Sep. 8th, 2006|03:34 pm]

I am sorry for not posting sooner, but I have been busy. Well, maybe not so busy, but you never know where the days go with all the napping and eating and sleeping. Mommy bought me a cat dancer, which you could see in the photo above if her camera phone was not so stinky. I like the cat dancer. She bought it for me so I could get some exercise. I mostly like to watch mommy wave it around, although occasionally I will bat at it. I think mommy gets more exercise with it than I do.

I am still in diabetic remission. The vet said I could wait six months before coming back to see her. That means no shots for at least six months!

Update [Aug. 25th, 2006|03:28 pm]
[mood |hungryhungry and cranky]

Well, things have changed around here. First of all, the last time I went to the vet, they decided that my blood glucose level was normal, and so I was taken off my insulin. Which means that I have not had a shot in over a week! This means I am in diabetic remission. I go back next week to see if my blood glucose is still normal. If it is, no more shots.

On the other hand, mommy is upset with me because she says I'm unnaturally lazy. I don't know what she's talking about! Laziness is perfectly natural to me. What does she expect, anyhow? Stupid vet put me on a diet. I'm hungry all the time. Does she think I'm gonna run around when she starves me to death?

This is me posing for mommy's new camera phone. It took her forever to figure out how to beam her photos from her phone to the computer. Stupid mommy.

Great News! [Aug. 4th, 2006|12:43 pm]

I went to the Vet today, and my blood glucose was 73! That's on the low side of normal. The vet says I can reduce my insulin to ONE unit of Lantus ONCE a day! And that maybe, in two weeks, if I am still normal, I can STOP TAKING INSULIN!!! Hooray!

The bad news is - the vet says I'm getting fat. I now weigh over 15 pounds. Mommy promised to feed me less Purina DM. Stupid vet - what does she know?

Update [Jul. 23rd, 2006|05:38 am]
[mood |sleepysleeping]

This is the comfy bed. Mommy says i take up too much room! I don't know what she's talking about There seems to be plenty of room to me.

I am doing well on my 1 unit of Lantus twice a day. Mommy was afraid that my blood glucose level would go up again, but I seem to be doing OK. I am drinking a normal amount of water, and I am very playful during the two hours of the day that I am not napping!

Bastille Day [Jul. 14th, 2006|04:11 pm]
[mood |sleepysleepy]

Mommy took me to the vet this afternoon for a checkup, and my blood glucose was 63! This is way too low for a kitty, so the vet lowered my insulin dosage from 3 units twice a day to one unit twice a day. Also, I now weigh almost *15 pounds*! This is two pounds more than I weighed when I came to live with mommy. However, the vet said that my weight gain was a sign that my diabetes was getting under control. Usually kitties with uncontrolled diabetes lose weight - no matter what! But once they get the diabetes under control the weight comes back on.

Mommy thought that maybe I was a little hypoglycemic. I slept all day today and yesterday. I did play a little last night, though. Mostly, this is a good sign - it means that my diabetes is getting under control. Now we just have to see what dosage of insulin is good for me.

AM Insulin and Food
3 units Lantus - 10am
1 can Purina DM

Food - 3pm
Once mommy learned my blood sugar was so low, she fed me about 1/3 cup of Purina DM dry when we got home.
And some tuna water - yay!

I will get 1 unit of Lantus this evening. Mommy is supposed to go to a party, but she may have to stay home and keep an eye on me.

July 13 [Jul. 13th, 2006|11:22 am]

I am pretty much on schedule with my shots and my feedings now. Mommy says I am a spolsport because when she tries to play with me by teasing me with the worm or the ribbon or a toy mousie, I end up taking it from her and hiding it under the bed or under the couch. She says I don't know how to play, but I think *she* doesn't know how to *win*!

AM Insulin and Food
3 units Lanuts - 7am
1 can Purina DM

I snoozed most of the morning.

July 11 [Jul. 11th, 2006|01:12 pm]
Mommy put me in my new cat carrier and took me to Clark Park on Sunday to see if I would like it. I didn't howl or cry, but I pretty much stayed in my carrier - there was too much going on! I did poke my head out of the sun roof a few times to look at the birdies. I crawled out of my carrier and let mommy pet me for a couple of minutes, but crawled back in when she stopped. She thinks that I want to go outside. I might like to go outside, but the park was very busy on Sunday!

Things are pretty much back to normal with my shots.

AM Insulin and Food
3 units Lantus- 7am
1/3 cup dry Purina DM
tuna water

AM Attitutde

I spent all morning snoozing on the comfy bed. Mommy tried to distract me with one of the mousies, but I nabbed it from her and sat on it. Mommy gave me dry food instead of canned because she is afraid that I might go all hypoglycemic while she is away during the day. [info]citykitties gave her a glucometer, but she has not used it yet.
